Friend,

Donald Trump has just announced his pick for vice presidential nominee: it’s Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.

At first glance, that might not seem like it’s related to our race for U.S. Senate in Michigan. But allow us to explain why his nomination matters for us:

On the substance, J.D. Vance is not good for Michigan. He suggested that women should stay in violent marriages, celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and opposed exceptions for women needing an abortion after rape and incest. He also supported plans to cut Social Security and Medicare, privatization to a ton of federal services, and there's a whole other list of issues he’s on the wrong side of.

But the ramifications go beyond Vance’s record: This announcement comes with lots and lots of media attention, a flood of new volunteers, and a tidal wave of grassroots donations for the Republican party. Particularly since the media is already lining up to call him the heir apparent and successor to carry on the MAGA movement long, long after Trump.

And that wave will not just carry the Trump-Vance campaign, but those of other high-profile candidates in battleground states. That includes Michigan, and our razor-close Senate race.

Case in point: One of our possible opponents even has a speaking slot at the Republican National Convention tomorrow.

Because this announcement will likely result in a flood of support—and money—for our opponent and those working to flip Michigan red, we are asking you today:

Will you chip in whatever you can to help us match—or even exceed—the injection of cash that our opponents are receiving right now?
