Dear John

Together we tackle some of the biggest problems facing the planet. But often the best way to make a difference is to act local. It's what makes our global network of Friends of the Earth supporters so special.

Today I've got 3 ways for you to find out more about the local environment
where you live.
Plus some ideas for getting active.
1. 'Fracking' is a risky process that uses water and chemicals to extract fossil fuel gases from under the ground. As well as contributing to climate change it's been linked to drinking water contamination.
Check our map of at-risk areas ([link removed])
2. Britain's precious bees are in decline. The finger of blame points at toxic pesticides and habitat loss. But luckily there are practical things we can all do to help them out.

3. Air pollution from diesel fumes is a hot topic. For years we've been conned by car companies and let down by governments. Now, the readings from our national air pollution experiment are ready for you on our air pollution map of the UK.

And don't forget that if you want to get really stuck in to local campaigning, your local Friends of the Earth group would love to hear from you. You can find your group here ([link removed]) .

Here's to a better environment where you live and across the world.

Best wishes,
Aleanna Shaughnessy
