The Ohio Young Democrats and the Young Democrats of America Condemn JD Vance as Republican Vice Presidential Nominee

COLUMBUS, OH — Today, Donald Trump, 45th President, and 34-time convicted felon, announced JD Vance, Senator from Ohio, as his running mate.

“If you do not know JD, take it from us: he does not represent Ohio. It is shameful he is being elevated within the GOP, considering his short, questionable track record as a Senator.” Ohio Young Democrats President Kim Agyekum said.

Having served in the U.S. Senate for less than a year, the GOP selection of JD Vance is laughable.

"JD Vance is one of the most unqualified individuals ever to run as a vice presidential nominee for a major party. Outside of his harmful and divisive rhetoric, he's accomplished little in his short time in the Senate. Ohioans and Americans deserve far much better." said Young Democrats of America President Quentin Wathum-Ocama.

Following the repeal of Roe v. Wade, voters across the country have fought to enshrine reproductive rights in their state constitutions. Last November, Ohioans voted to protect abortion access in the Constitution. Yet, Vance doesn’t care what voters want, voting against life-saving abortion access and IVF protections.

At every opportunity, Vance has proved himself unfit and unwilling to represent the values of Ohio voters on the issues that matter most.

Despite his belief that “most Americans couldn’t care less about Project 2025,” we know the facts. Americans care about freedom. This ticket is not only dangerous, but it is not qualified to lead our nation.

America needs leaders who are truthful, accountable, and deliver actual results. America deserves better than failed Silicon Valley opportunist JD Vance.
