World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
In observance of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons ([link removed]) , we highlight the urgent issue of child trafficking. Shockingly, one in three trafficking victims is a child, with most being girls. According to the UNODC, children are twice as likely as adults to face violence while being trafficked.
Child trafficking is driven by multiple factors like poverty, lack of support for unaccompanied minors, and inadequate parental care. Despite efforts, the preventive measures to stop child trafficking remain insufficient. Governments must prioritize child protection, strengthen laws, and address root causes like poverty and inequality.
This month, PACT CEO Lori Cohen will be speaking at international and national panels to raise awareness and drive action to #EndHumanTrafficking. Join us in supporting vulnerable children and victims of trafficking.

They will also share examples from various multi modal public awareness campaigns on human trafficking and discuss lessons learned.

Mid-May, Elise Hirsh, a law student from France, represented PACT at an advocacy day organized by New Yorkers for The Equality Model in support of the Sex Trade Survivors Justice & Equality Act. At the event, Elise joined PACT CEO Lori Cohen at four different meetings with the teams of NYS Senators. At each meeting, she shared successes in the French legal system that could be replicated in New York.
