Donald Trump just picked Senator J.D. Vance (R-Yale Law) as his VP nominee.

Vance is a fake populist and a fake Trump supporter – previously saying, "I can’t stomach Trump. I think that he’s noxious" and calling Trump "America’s Hitler." Vance immediately politicized this weekend’s shooting – saying that Democrats calling Trump a threat to democracy (he is) “directly led” to the shooting (it didn't).

Today, we sent a memo to top Democratic leaders saying: Trump is back to politics. This is not the time for Democrats to walk on eggshells. The Associated Press covered us saying, "We all need to make clear now that protecting democracy is the exact opposite of political violence."

As the Republican convention begins, Democrats must get back to reminding voters that Trump fostered a violent insurrection, took away women’s freedoms, gave tax cuts to billionaires while trying to slash Social Security, and allowed corporations to price gouge consumers on everything from groceries to prescriptions.

Already, some political leaders are speaking out along these lines – Democrats and Republicans:

Adam Kinzinger: The question going forward is how do we talk about Trump? The same. Do not let them intimidate us into not going after Donald Trump. Every adult knows that in politics you’ll say things like… 'Trump is a danger to democracy.' He absolutely is.

Senator Chris Murphy: it isn't 'politicizing' the tragedy to point out that no politician has done more to glorify political violence than Donald Trump. That's just the truth. We shouldn't be afraid to say it.

Thanks for helping to save our democracy.
