Dear Friends,

 

Like you, I was shocked to turn on the TV Saturday night to learn that someone had attempted to assassinate President Trump.

 

I’m praying for President Trump and the rally attendees, and am very thankful for law enforcement who acted quickly and professionally. My heart breaks at the loss of life and injury. My prayers are also for the people and families involved. May this horrific and senseless violence be condemned across all politics, and may it somehow bring us to seek the unity and mutual understanding this country needs.

 

*NATION OF PATRIOTS*

The Nation of Patriots event is one of my favorite events of the year. It was a very hot and humid day, but there were smiles on every face as 98 motorcycles came roaring into Albert Lea and lined up in the parking lot.

I enjoyed speaking at this event and welcoming this huge group to Albert Lea, along with Senator Dornick and Mayor Murray.

The Nation of Patriots is a nationwide endeavor that honors all of America's Armed Forces – Past, Present, and Fallen - through the Patriot Tour, an annual 40 state Flag tour that raises funds to help veterans across the country. This was one of the flag handoff events. Thank you to the Albert Lea American Legion honor guard and other veterans who took part in the ceremony, and also to our local law enforcement and firefighters who helped out.

 

As a special bonus for me, one of my former first grade students – one of my “kids” – who now lives in Mankato came up to greet me. So fun to see Dylan Johnson after all these years!
