John, We’re standing before the U.S. District Court of Colorado today to stop an illegal campaign to intimidate voters. The trial has begun in our case against the leaders of the United States Election Integrity Plan (USEIP), an extremist organization with ties to QAnon and the January 6th Capitol Insurrection, seeking to stop their illegal voter intimidation campaign in Colorado. The right to a free and fair vote is the bedrock of our democracy. We cannot allow USEIP or anyone else to prevent Americans from voting safely and without fear. Will you chip in $10 or more today to help us protect voters nationwide from intimidation? USEIP has conducted a door-to-door campaign of intimidation at voters’ homes, in which its agents (sometimes armed) question voters about their method of voting, interrogate them about so-called fraudulent ballots, levy baseless accusations of fraud against voters, and take photographs of voters’ homes to store in a database. The defendants tried to prevent the case from going to trial by filing multiple motions, and even countersuing the voting rights organizations that Free Speech For People represents in this lawsuit (he NAACP of Colorado, League of Women Voters of Colorado, and Mi Familia Vota) for defamation and abuse of process. But their tactics failed. No one should have to be afraid that voting will leave them vulnerable to post-election intimidation in their own homes, or that the voting rolls will be abused to mark certain voters for intimidation or threats. Free and fair elections can only occur when people know they can vote safely both when they go to the polls and afterwards.
