Hi neighbor,

Massachusetts hospitals, like hospitals across the country, are facing extreme shortages in personal protective equipment (PPE) which healthcare workers rely on to care for coronavirus patients and prevent more cases from developing.

Our country is far too reliant on overseas manufacturing of PPE and other lifesaving medical equipment. And when we're in a crisis like this one, our frontline workers don't have time to wait for foreign shipments and red tape. We must take steps to provide our frontline workers with the equipment they need to do their jobs safely, while ensuring the federal government distributes this equipment equitably.

The good news is there is a solution to help us prepare for the next public health emergency - one that helps American manufacturers and produces good paying jobs even in economic instability.

I recently wrote about this solution, which you can read more about here:

I know adjusting to our new reality has been challenging in ways we never expected. I hope you are social distancing, taking care of yourself in this difficult time, and perhaps finding a new sense of family and community within it all.

I'll be in touch with more updates soon.

Stay well!
Lori
