Like many of you, I am deeply disturbed by the attack on former President Trump on Saturday and the death and injuries to the other individuals who attended the rally. Three thoughts:
1. This assassination attempt and political violence of any kind is abhorrent. It has no place in our democracy. We must speak out against it and stand against violence of any kind in our country.
2. Avoid conspiracy theories. There have already been and will continue to be many theories shared via social media. Let's try to avoid being overly influenced by quick theories or statements that have not been thoroughly considered.
3. Let's take the time to learn the facts. Already, we have learned quite a bit in the last 36 hours. We will learn more over time. Until we do, it is better to get clear information on what we know than to speculate before we know the facts.

Thank you for considering these thoughts and for your commitment to safety, civility, justice for all, and democracy.
