We just won’t quit. Not when it comes to fighting for the rights of Black and Brown voters across the country and especially in Florida!
That’s why Advancement Project National Office is leading a coalition of racial justice organizations in renewing our call for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to make voting accessible to all Floridians during the COVID-19 pandemic. We just took renewed legal action [[link removed]] demanding accommodations be made to the state’s election procedures in response to the continued spread of the coronavirus.
Just last month, we filed a lawsuit against [[link removed]] the state, asking that accommodations be made for voters ahead of its Presidential Primaries in March. This time around, we want to ensure that Black and Brown voters, the elderly, and Floridians living with disabilities are able to vote and make their voices heard in the state’s upcoming elections in August and November. Current procedures in place force voters to choose between casting a ballot and their health and safety—it shouldn’t be this way.
Our asks are simple:
• Conduct outreach to unregistered and inactive voters offering the opportunity to register to vote or update their registrations;
• Mail a vote-by-mail ballot to all registered voters in accordance with their preferred language;
• Extend the deadline to register to vote;
• Simplify the Online Voter Registration process by modifying requirements and provide registrants with notice of application errors, among other things.
We must continue to fight to ensure voting in Florida is safe and easy. Learn more about the case by watching our Facebook Live morning coffee chat [[link removed]] with partners around the litigation. Demand Governor DeSantis take action on social media using #SafeFLElections!
We won’t stop fighting for justice. Our lives and our democracy depend on it.
P.S.
Advancement Project National Office couldn't do this work without the support of followers like you; please help us continue our fight [[link removed]] for social and racial equality!
In solidarity,
Advancement Project National Office
