VIDEO OF THE DAY: Republicans issue bombshell reaction to Trump shooting
Just as sickening as the Trump rally shooting itself has been the GOP's predictable response to it. There have been a number of shameless Republicans who, without skipping a beat, have exploited the shooting to attack President Biden, accusing him of literally trying to murder Donald Trump. Seriously. The party that sends out Christmas cards like these, drops TV ads like these, and says shit like this wants voters to believe Democrats are responsible for the incessant, violent rhetoric that has poisoned America's political discourse. Again, seriously.

President Biden urges US to reject "extremism and fury" after Trump assassination attempt
President Biden on Sunday forcefully condemned political violence and appealed to a nation still reeling from the attempted assassination of Donald Trump to reject “extremism and fury." In a primetime address from the Oval Office, Biden said Americans must strive for “national unity,” warning that the political rhetoric in the US had gotten “too heated” as passions rise in the final months before the November presidential election. “There is no place in America for this kind of violence — for any violence. Ever. Period. No exception,” the president said. “We can’t allow this violence to be normalized.”

GOP banker drops dark money bomb in must-win Senate race
Tammy Baldwin for Senate: Eric Hovde, McConnell’s hand-picked candidate for Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate seat, spent over $5 MILLION on TV and digital ads so far in his transparent attempt to try and buy himself trailblazing Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin’s seat. Hovde used that money to unleash a torrent of GOP lies against Baldwin and President Biden, making it clear that he will rubber-stamp the GOP’s draconian anti-abortion agenda and roll back all the accomplishments that Senator Baldwin and President Biden have delivered for the American people. Polling shows that 15% of voters are still undecided — and in the most fiercely contested partisan battleground in the country, every single vote counts more than ever before. Will you chip in to fight the GOP’s lies, re-elect Tammy Baldwin and protect our Senate majority?
After Trump assassination attempt, guns will still be allowed near RNC, but tennis balls will not
It makes perfect sense if you make sure you don't think about it. Even a failed assassination attempt of their beloved cult leader won't move the needle an inch. There are 27 constitutional amendments and Republicans love distorting basically all of them, but none more so than the god-forsaken 2nd Amendment. For the GOP, enacting any kind of sensible gun safety reform is tantamount to treason. Something, something, cold dead hands, ad infinitum.

Career politician Nikki Haley caves, set to speak at Trump coronation after all
In terribly unsurprising news, former Republican presidential candidate and professional flip-flopper Nikki Haley will publicly throw her supporter behind her former boss and convicted felon Donald Trump with a primetime speaking slot at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee after all. Haley, who spent months on the campaign trail rightly warning Republican voters of Trump's fundamental threat to democracy, has taken baby steps toward supporting the MAGA cult leader since bowing out of the race, and her speech at the RNC will represent a full surrender to Trump’s dominance in the party. Once a lackey, always a lackey.

Trump rally gunman was "definitely conservative," classmate recalls
A former classmate of the 20-year-old man who tried unsuccessfully to kill Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday recalled him being staunchly to the right of the political spectrum. "He definitely was conservative,” Max R. Smith told The Philadelphia Inquirer of Thomas Crooks. “It makes me wonder why he would carry out an assassination attempt on the conservative candidate.” Smith shared an American history class with Crooks, and remembered a mock debate where their teacher made students stand on one side of the classroom or another to signal their allegiance. “The majority of the class were on the liberal side, but Tom, no matter what, always stood his ground on the conservative side,” Smith said. “That’s still the picture I have of him. Just standing alone on one side while the rest of the class was on the other.” Crooks died in the assassination attempt. Trump, who suffered a minor injury to the ear, was “fine” Sunday after being treated at a local medical facility, his campaign said. One audience member was killed and two others critically injured amid the gunfire.

Alabama shootings leave seven people dead including child, police say
Sure, there was one very big shooting over the weekend, but this unspeakable violence takes place every damn day in America, and still Republicans refuse to lift a finger. To date, there have been 298 mass shootings this year, resulting in more than 9,000 senseless deaths and 17,000 injuries. When will the GOP finally say enough is enough? Sources say never. Please remember in November.

The Secret Service is investigating how a man who shot and injured Trump was able to get so close
There are a LOT of unanswered questions surrounding Saturday's failed assassination attempt, chief among them being how in the hell a shooter in plain sight got within 150 yards of a former president. Perhaps just as pressing, why isn't Congress convening to ban AR-15-style assault rifles immediately? Like, this morning? Oh, wait, we already went over this.
GOP Rep. Tim Burchett blames "DEI" Secret Service for Trump’s shooting
