As we reflect on a tumultuous weekend in America, it's important we refocus and engage in a new dialogue with our neighbors.

Never forget — we all share this beautiful home. The spirit of the district is strong, and we all have passionate visions for the future. Often, those visions can conflict, but in the end, we're all in this together.

It's important to remember that although I have fundamental policy differences with my opponents, we are competitors; we are not enemies.

If any nation can show the world dignity, it's the United States of America. If any district can show the nation unity, it's districts like ours.

Here, we celebrate our differences, and while we fiercely fight for the common good, somewhere, somehow, we can always find common ground.

Our country is a beacon of hope and inspiration not because of its perfection, but because it's profound ability to be better.

So, let's be the definition of better.

Our fight is not with each other; it's for a cause.
