Community Justice Points to Resources, Path Forward for Black and Brown Communities Following Trump Rally Shooting
WASHINGTON – Today, Community Justice Executive Director José Alfaro issued the following statement in response to yesterday’s shooting at a Donald Trump for President rally in Butler, Pennsylvania:
“Black and brown communities have a long, sordid history with political violence in the United States, which has intimidated and devastated our communities for generations. Our communities have continued the fight to end violence no matter the circumstance. Yesterday’s events are further proof that gun violence does not discriminate against the communities it impacts.
As we know from our daily work, fear and anxiety about retaliatory violence in the coming days can not be overlooked or ignored. We stand with the advocates and community leaders in the field continuing to work to end gun violence today, tomorrow and beyond. Community Justice is committed to supporting our partners and providing them with the tools and resources needed to support the safety and well-being of our communities in the aftermath of such violence."
