Political violence of any kind is unacceptable and has no place in our society. I am thankful that President Trump is safe. My prayers are with President Trump, the victims’ families, and all those who were in attendance at the event in Butler, PA yesterday. To restore civility, our elected leaders must dial down the dangerous rhetoric and seek to unite our nation. In unity lies our greatest strength. Keeping our Elections Free and Fair Few rights are as sacred as the right to vote. I’m going to bat to defend it. The right to vote is a fundamental part of our democracy. That is why I am committed to preserving the right of U.S. citizens, and only U.S. citizens, to participate in our elections. This week, I helped pass the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Putting TX-23 First in Washington My number one priority in Congress is delivering for TX-23 communities. This year, I advanced over $118 million for local projects throughout our district. These projects range from border security to economic development initiatives, and if signed into law, will provide TX-23 with essential federal funding. I am proud to have advanced the fifth-highest amount of Community Project Funding among all Members of Congress this year. I'll always put South and West Texas first in Congress! Advancing Conservative Priorities As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am committed to ensuring our tax dollars are spent responsibly and only on what truly matters. This week, the Committee was hard at work debating several remaining spending bills. With our efforts, we have now passed all 12 Appropriations bills out of Committee—maintaining Republicans' commitment to passing single-subject spending bills. These bills curb wasteful spending, make critical investments in public safety, and put America first. Follow @RepTonyGonzales on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
