I'm thrilled to write to you for the first time. You've become "an Avaazer" -- part of a beautiful movement of 50 million people from absolutely every single country on earth. A community that believes we have more in common, wherever we are, than what divides us.

What we do together? Fight to create the world we dream of. Yep, nothing less!

Signing a petition is a small step, but it can accomplish SO MUCH when we stick together with a common goal. Let's put modesty aside: thanks to everyone who has signed, donated, sent messages, called decision-makers, and even joined offline actions and meet-ups, we've been winning and winning and winning. Check out this page for some of the highlights of what Avaazers around the world have achieved together.

Avaaz might seem a bit of a mystery, so here are a few key things you should know to help you understand the community:
  • "Avaaz" means "voice" in many languages.
  • For the past 10 years, we've campaigned relentlessly to make the voices of citizens heard and to spread values of respect, love, hope, and shared humanity.
  • The Avaaz staff is about 100 people, spread across the planet, giving everything we have every day to carry citizens' voices into key decision-making moments.
  • We are 100% funded by small donations from members. We receive no money (not a cent!) from governments, companies, or big individual donors.
  • We'll send you one or two emails per week, letting you know how you can help making a difference on an important issue.
