"I deeply condemn today's horrific act of violence. A shooting at Trump — with others critically injured — shows a troubling trend in our nation. America must be better than this. This isn't about politics; it's about the soul of our country.
"I wish Trump and those affected well, and I'm thankful for the quick response from the Secret Service, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
"We all need to heal. Let's stay calm, support each other, and work together to make our nation safer and kinder for all , political adversaries included.
"Political violence and hatred have no place in our society. It accomplishes nothing. We are a democracy. Outvote them, nothing more. Real, meaningful change starts with each of us."
