John,

During a rally in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump was shot. Secret Service rushed to the scene, and he quickly rose to his feet and assured the audience that he was fine as he was being rushed into his vehicle.  

While he appears to be ok, we urge everyone to pray for him, his health, and his family. It does appear that he was struck, and now is the time for believers to rally in prayer. 

In the coming hours, more information will become known, and now is not the time for politics. However, the evil, divisive, and bitter rhetoric in our political discourse is undoubtedly at the heart of this incident.

Our nation is broken and divided. It can be healed only through fixing our eyes on God for our hope, caring for our neighbor, and finding unity in our shared values.

The constant, hyperbolic attacks made such an incident seemingly inevitable. We pray that this prompts a reset, a restoration of norms, and national healing. Our God is capable of bringing this to pass.
