As we continue to honor BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re committed to highlighting the intersectional experiences of BIPOC LGBTQ+ young people. Our 2024 national survey ([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort#suicide-by-race) reveals critical insights: 52% of BIPOC LGBTQ+ young people have seriously considered suicide, with 19% attempting suicide in the past year. The intersection of racial discrimination and LGBTQ+ rejection amplifies these challenges, highlighting the need for inclusive and supportive environments.

Support and acceptance are crucial, with young people having at least one accepting adult being 40% less likely to attempt suicide. Our award-winning video, “Learn With Love: Episode 1” ([link removed]) , showcases the transformative impact of family support and community understanding.

In "Learn With Love," ([link removed]) we see the powerful impact of love and acceptance. The video features Kaiden (he/him) and his mother, Kristen (she/her). Kaiden shares his journey of coming out as transgender and finding support in his mother, Kristen, as she learns to fully embrace his identity. Their story shows how supportive communities can significantly impact LGBTQ+ youth.
