Hi John, it’s Anna, Josh’s Finance Director.
I’m constantly checking our daily fundraising numbers, and I’ll be honest with you, John — July isn’t looking too good. That’s why our team set a mid-month goal of $75,000 to help us get on track. It may seem like a lot, but our fundraising targets have to be high for a few reasons: 1️⃣ The summer is traditionally slow for fundraising, we even call it the “summer slump.” 2️⃣ National Republicans RIGHT NOW are spending millions of dollars to flood North Carolina’s airwaves with attack ads, so we have to match them dollar for dollar. 3️⃣ Our campaign is run on grassroots contributions made to emails like this one that help us run an aggressive on-the-ground campaign. That’s why we can’t waste a single moment, John. For us to stay competitive in this race, we need to hit every financial goal.
