On Wednesday, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced articles
of impeachment against corrupt justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito
for abusing their power on the Supreme Court to protect and advance their
own personal interests.^1 Now, members of Congress must launch an
impeachment investigation and begin impeachment proceedings.

In 2022, evidence revealed that Ginni Thomas, Justice Clarence Thomas'
wife, texted Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows—as well as legislators in
Wisconsin and Arizona—urging them to overturn the election results. Ginni
even attended the Stop the Steal rally on January 6 and is involved with
groups who participated in the January 6 insurrection.^2,3,4
Then, Clarence Thomas used his power as a Supreme Court justice to attempt
to shield his wife from accountability by participating in a case
regarding Trump's records on January 6 and was the sole justice in an 8-1
ruling who wanted the White House to keep records hidden—including the
texts where his wife pushed the Trump administration to take action to
overturn the results of the 2020 election. The corruption knows no bounds.

There is finally new momentum to hold Justice Thomas accountable. Members
of Congress must launch an impeachment investigation and impeachment
proceedings NOW.

Clarence Thomas has accepted $4 MILLION in gifts and failed to report most
of them. Free luxury vacations, tuition payments, private jet flights,
private resorts, yacht trips. These are just a few of the hundreds of
thousands of dollars worth of gifts that he accepted from billionaire and
right-wing megadonor Harlan Crow (who has poured tens of millions of
dollars into right-wing causes and collects Nazi memorabilia) and other
right-wing benefactors with business before the Supreme Court.^5
In 2011, Crow also gave half a million dollars to a Tea Party group
founded by Ginni Thomas. The donation paid for Ginni's $120,000 salary.^6
And both Ginni Thomas and Clarence Thomas have ties to Leonard Leo, the
chief architect of the right-wing Supreme Court.^7
[ [link removed] ]Clarence Thomas's corruption has stretched across decades and is
well-documented. He must be impeached. Will you sign the petition?
Ginni was part of a group of far-right activists who pushed Trump to get
rid of members of his administration who were thought to be "disloyal" to
him and suggested that those members be replaced with people they chose.^8
Clarence Thomas's wife actively participated in trying to overturn the
2020 election results in support of Trump. And despite calls for Clarence
Thomas to recuse himself from Trump-related cases because of his several
conflicts of interest, he didn't.
It's painfully clear that instead of making unbiased decisions based on
the facts, Justice Thomas is pushing a right-wing political agenda on the
Supreme Court—and is being bankrolled by Republican billionaires, working
on their behalf. Meanwhile, the decisions that he rules on directly impact
the lives of millions of people, from workers' rights to abortion rights,
voting rights, and more.
In 2017, impeaching Donald Trump wasn't taken seriously, but MoveOn
members and others pushed and helped elect a Democratic House majority,
giving Democrats the power to move an impeachment inquiry. Together, we
helped build a demand that couldn’t be ignored for accountability. We can
do that again. But it starts with popularizing the idea that this is
needed.
We can't sit idly by while corrupt Supreme Court justices continue to
strip away our rights. The time is NOW to impeach Clarence Thomas.
