Our access to medication abortion is safe, for now. We need to ensure that medication abortion–—which accounts for at least 63% of all U.S. abortions—is accessible to all of us.
House Democrats are calling on major pharmacy retailers to commit to dispensing mifepristone, the first pill used in medication abortions, following the recent preserved access to the drug nationwide. Over 50 House Democrats sent a letter to Walmart, Safeway, Kroger, Costco, and Health Mart urging them to sell abortion pills, as these companies have remained silent on whether they would obtain certification to dispense mifepristone. The two largest pharmacy chains, CVS and Walgreens, have said that they would seek certification to sell mifepristone.
This is about full access to our reproductive health care. We are joining the House Democrats’ call: All pharmacies must dispense reproductive health care medication.
There are additional protections we will continue to fight for, including repealing the Comstock Act and enshrining full abortion access for everyone. While we continue this fight, we demand full access to our health care where available. That includes pharmacies providing reproductive health care access without sharing our private data.
Sign the petition to Walmart, Safeway, Kroger, Costco, and Health Mart: We demand you provide access to our reproductive health care medication, including mifepristone.
