Greetings!
I’m at the Capitol today. Even with this crisis closing businesses and costing jobs, most Members of Congress are not here. In fact, the House floor was absolutely EMPTY with the exception of just a few of my colleagues. It was a disgrace.

We simply had questions as to why the House of Representatives wasn’t doing it’s job. Instead of giving those answers, Speaker Pelosi’s designated Democrats adjourned the House and turned the lights out on us so we wouldn’t have the ability to do our jobs.

There was NO WILLINGNESS to speak about when we will come back into session.
There was NO DEBATE related to our COVID-19 response whatsoever.
There was NO URGENCY to take the votes that are needed for the American people right now.

Speaker Pelosi is governing by giving into fear, and to me, that is completely unacceptable. NEVER in our country’s history have we been governed by fear because that is not who we are as a country.

We have an obligation to the healthcare workers, first responders, grocery store staff, sanitation workers and many more who are putting their lives on the line for this country to get back to work with the same level of urgency that they are doing their jobs. We have an obligation to small business owners that are facing permanent closure because of government-imposed mandates to act before it's too late. We have an obligation to people everywhere to do what we were elected to do.

None of that is happening because Speaker Pelosi is controlling the House schedule to prevent us from doing work and taking votes that don’t fit her specific agenda. Please - I know I asked last night, but today Speaker Pelosi made another announcement that pushed back the next vote even further!

Thank you,
