John — have you stepped outside lately and felt like you walked into a sauna? You're not alone.

This summer, millions of people around the country are facing record-breaking temperatures. Just this week, Las Vegas saw temperatures exceed 115°F for five straight days, prompting public health warnings and leaving residents struggling to cope. The heat wave gripping the West Coast claimed lives, with Death Valley reaching a blistering 120°F. Temperatures throughout the Pacific Northwest are reaching record highs that pose an especially serious threat to communities where many houses and apartments lack air conditioning.

And the situation in the Northeast isn’t any less alarming. The region’s heat index recently surpassed 100°F, straining infrastructure and causing travel delays for tens of thousands of people. The city that never sleeps is now a city that sweats, and its residents are feeling the heat in more ways than one.

This trend is not a fluke. The burning of fossil fuels is trapping heat in our atmosphere, disrupting global weather patterns, and turning our summers into a season of survival. It’s a clear sign of what’s to come if we don’t take immediate action.

At the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, we're committed to electing candidates who take this crisis seriously and who will work to reverse the damage caused by Big Oil and Gas. If you’re able, please chip in any amount to bolster our efforts. [[link removed]]

John, we can no longer ignore the serious effects of this extreme heat:

* Leading Cause of Weather-Related Deaths: High heat now surpasses hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods as the leading cause of weather-related deaths in the United States.
* Health Issues: The oppressive temperatures exacerbate air quality issues, leading to increased respiratory problems, especially among vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
* Agricultural Disruptions: Extreme heat disrupts agriculture, causing crop failures as relentless heat scorches fields.
* Reduced Productivity: Labor productivity declines in high temperatures, affecting both outdoor and indoor work environments.
* Increased Energy Consumption: The cost of cooling homes and businesses is skyrocketing, putting a strain on household budgets and our nation’s energy grids.

Let’s get real: Fossil fuel companies are the culprits here. The fossil fuel industry has a tight grip on our government, stalling any real climate action and pushing us closer to disaster. And while humanity is on the brink of disaster, all Oil Executives care about is raking in the cash. They’ll continue pouring millions into lawmakers’ pockets so they can make their billions and laugh while the rest of us suffer.

We have the power to change the course of history, but we can’t do it without grassroots support. Can we count on your donation to power our mission, support candidates committed to climate action, and build a better future for our children and grandchildren? [[link removed]]
