MEDIA ADVISORY AND PRESS RELEASE
Congressman Al Green to Address Recovery Efforts at NRG Park in Joint Press Conference with Community Leaders and Elected Officials
(Houston, TX) — On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Congressman Al Green will share remarks at a press conference with Bishop James Dixon, Chairman of Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, community leaders, and elected officials. The purpose of the press conference is to update constituents on recovery efforts. Congressman Green will also address constituents’ concerns related to CenterPoint Energy. The press conference will take place inside the parking lot at NRG Park on Westridge Street and Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas, 77054 at 1:00 pm CT.
Congressman Al Green stated, “We are incredibly grateful for the collaborative support from all levels of government during this crisis, and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Harris County for providing a space for TDEM emergency staging and field hospitals in the NRG arena. I, together with Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Senator John Cornyn, and Senator Ted Cruz, made a request for a public disaster declaration. Thereafter, I joined Congressman Randy Weber in asking for individual assistance disaster declaration. The response from the Biden Administration is crucial in supporting our needs for federal disaster aid to provide essential relief to our constituents during these challenging times. Thank you, Mr. President, for granting both federal public and individual disaster assistance declarations.”
