🎉  More Candidate Endorsements!

At the end of June, Sister District announced our second round of 2024 endorsements! This new wave of candidates includes teachers, doctors, business owners, community activists, National Guard members, and more!

With the addition of these 13 brilliant candidates, we’ve endorsed 21 contenders for critical state legislative seats in swing districts. We’ll equip each of these campaigns with organizing power, fundraising capacity, and expert support.

💡 Sister District Team Spotlight:

Over the past month, Sister District volunteers across the country have mobilized to provide critical organizing support to our candidates. Here are a few highlights:

Several team members of Sister District NYC traveled to Pennsylvania to knock on doors for Anna Thomas and Democrats running for Congress. This is the earliest Sister District NYC has started canvassing!

Sister District MA-RI hosted a successful in-person phone bank. They made over 400 calls to voters in critical swing districts!

🎟️ You’re Invited: Sister District Fireside Chat: A Conversation with Ari Berman

On August 7, join Sister District for a conversation with Ari Berman about his new book Minority Rule: The Right-Wing Attack on the Will of the People—And the Fight to Resist It. Gaby Goldstein, Co-Founder of Sister District, will moderate the conversation!

The mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, represented an extreme form of the central danger facing American democracy today: a blatant disregard for the will of the majority. However, this crisis did not begin or end with Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Through voter suppression, election subversion, gerrymandering, dark money, the takeover of the courts, and the whitewashing of history – so much of which happens at the state level – reactionary white conservatives have strategically entrenched power in the face of massive demographic and political shifts. Journalist Ari Berman charts all of these efforts and the grassroots movement that’s fighting back in his new book.
