Gov. Justice announces 4% personal income tax cut trigger, marching West Virginia closer to eliminating tax
Gov. Justice announced that an additional 4% reduction in personal income tax rates will take effect on January 1, 2025.

The reduction was triggered after the state's revenue collections surpassed the rate of inflation, as stipulated in House Bill 2526, which the Governor signed in 2023.

This trigger puts the state on a path to eliminating its personal income tax.

"This is another huge achievement for West Virginia," Gov. Justice said. "We've worked hard to make sure our state's economic growth translates to real benefits for our citizens. Nothing will drive population, opportunity, and economic growth in West Virginia like eliminating our personal income tax. Today's announcement should absolutely be celebrated, but I know that we can achieve even more by continuing to reduce income taxes. We need to continue marching towards zero income taxes in West Virginia. I'll only be your governor for a few more months, but I'll always continue to do everything in my power to help this state and our people. At the end of the day, the amazing surpluses we've seen are great, but that money belongs to the people. They deserve to see it in their pockets, and the best way to maximize these surpluses is reducing the personal income tax."

Gov. Justice celebrates kickoff of Hawks Nest tram replacement project
State Parks reach historic achievement of $50 million in annual revenue
Gov. Justice visited the site of what will be the reimagined aerial tram at Hawks Nest State Park to kickoff the project. The aerial tram has been a fixture in the park since 1970.

The tram replacement project is part of $250+ million in state park improvements made under the Gov. Justice’s leadership. To add to the excitement, the state parks system has surpassed $50 million in annual revenue at the completion of the fiscal year.

“A whole lot of people who love Hawks Nest State Park have been waiting for the tram project,” Gov. Justice said. “I’ve also been looking forward to today, so we can get the ball rolling to bring it back bigger and better than anyone could ever imagine. Hundreds of thousands of folks have created memories here on the tram over the last 50 years, and I’m excited for the next hundred thousand visitors to the park to be able to do just the same. Babydog and I plan to be two of the first to take a ride down to fish in the river next spring.”

National Leader Rail Explorers expands operations in Clay County
Gov. Justice announced the expansion of the newly opened Rail Explorers, the nation’s leading railbike operator, location in Clay County due to its overwhelming success after opening just five weeks ago.

The West Virginia location has not only added additional tour times but also increased its fleet of railbikes, raising the capacity from 36 to 60 people per tour.

“This new attraction in our state has been a major success so far,” Gov. Justice said. “It’s hardly been a month since they opened their doors, and now they’re already experiencing growth in their business. Rail Explorers has without a doubt made an impact on tourism in Clay County and the state as a whole.”
