Team,
In June 2021, I was approved for DACA for the very first time — I felt like I won the golden ticket. What should have been relief and celebration turned to fear and anger just a month later, when Judge Hanen ruled against DACA and shut down the program for new applicants.
While I was grateful for the protection from deportation, work permit, and access to higher education that came with my DACA status, it was a bittersweet feeling knowing the same relief and protections were taken away from thousands of other eligible immigrants — including my father.
You see, my father was also eligible for DACA, and we always imagined getting our applications approved together. But he never heard back about his application.
The truth is, my father and our communities should have never faced this ruling in the first place. We have progressed past the need for temporary solutions like DACA — we need a pathway to citizenship now.
That’s exactly what I told Vice President Kamala Harris when I was invited to the White House to honor the 10th anniversary of DACA. If our immigrant youth-led movement has the organizing power to get an undocumented immigrant like me face-to-face with the Vice President of the United States, we also have the power to create the future we want to see — like permanent protections for all 11 million undocumented people.
Will you chip in to help United We Dream Action keep the pressure on President Biden and Congress to deliver a pathway to citizenship? Millions are counting on Washington to take action, and we refuse to wait any longer.

DACA’s vulnerability to attacks from judges and far-right challenges is just proof that it will never be enough to protect immigrant communities. Only a pathway to citizenship can protect immigrant youth, temporary protective status holders, farm workers, essential workers, and those who were never eligible for DACA, including my mother, from the threat of deportation.
That’s why we need a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented people. UWDA is fighting harder than ever before to make this a reality, but we need your help.
Congress and President Biden have a moral requirement to deliver for our immigrant communities. Chip in today to help our immigrant youth-led movement ensure our demands for a pathway to citizenship are met with urgency.

We all deserve to live freely without fear of being torn from the only homes we've ever known. I won't accept anything less for myself, for my parents, or for my community.
Thank you,
Yazmin, United We Dream Action
