April 22 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Normally, it's a day for gathering – people who care about the future of our world come together across the country to demand action to protect our planet through marches, rallies, and actions. While this year may be different, we cannot allow the COVID-19 crisis to stop us from raising our voices together.
Join millions of people to take part in Earth Day Live, the largest virtual mobilization for climate action in history >>
As we continue to do our part in the fight against COVID-19 by staying home and social distancing, thinking about the future can feel overwhelming and scary. This pandemic is exposing deep systemic inequalities, as millions of people in the US and around the world are struggling to pay their bills, stay healthy, and survive.
Today's crisis also reveals what our future could look like without action on climate. Climate change represents one of the biggest threats our world currently faces. We must speak out now to ensure we have strong leadership to protect our communities and our planet for future generations to come.
That's why, in partnership with youth leaders, indigenous advocates, and climate campaigners, we're joining #EarthDayLive, a 72-hour massive livestream featuring stories, conversations, performances, and actions from activists, scientists, celebrities, and musicians.
Join us from April 22-24 for Earth Day Live – click here to find out how to participate.
Together, we can help mobilize millions of people to call on leaders to take emergency action to build a more just and sustainable world and to ensure every single person that is eligible to cast a ballot in 2020 does so.
See you online.
Sincerely,
Gina Cummings
