John,

We want to invite you to a special event that will change the way you
think about finding common ground.

For years, bipartisanship earned a bad reputation because it resulted in
more handouts for the already powerful. This “mushy middle” bipartisanship
gave us bad jobs, more prisons and climate destruction. And communities of
color were hit hardest.

But COVID-19 does not care about party affiliation. It is exposing the
deep inequalities in our society and wreaking its worst devastation among
the already-vulnerable.

This is a moment for big ideas and true solidarity. That is why we’re
excited to bring you “Climate Unity Amidst COVID,” a live discussion with
Green For All founder Van Jones and American Conservation Coalition
President Benji Backer this Thursday, April 23rd at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET.

Van Jones is the founder of Dream Corps and Dream Corps Green for All. His
discussion partner, Benji Backer, founded the American Conservation
Coalition to re-engage conservatives on environmental conversations.
Together Benji and Van will discuss ways we can unite across party lines
and find meaningful solutions to the climate crisis.

The discussion will be broadcast live on Thursday at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET on
the Dream Corps Green For All Facebook page, and you will have the
opportunity to ask questions. You won't want to miss this chance to hear
how conservatives and progressives can unite without abandoning their own,
and to be inspired by the possibilities for change.

While clean energy use is growing, ongoing political polarization has
gotten in the way of transformational change on the federal level. Our
communities still face high asthma rates, unsafe drinking water, and
vulnerability to severe storms and flooding. That’s why we’re trying
something bold.

We’re bringing Democrats and Republicans together in support of equitable
solutions to the climate crisis. In the same way that our sister program
#cut50 has successfully brought liberals and conservatives together to
deliver historic criminal justice reforms, we see massive opportunity for
common ground to break through the climate crisis. And that’s never been
more urgent than right now.

To us, common ground means starting with the pain of affected people and
the solutions they call for. It means working with people who may disagree
with us, while never forgetting what we’re fighting for: ensuring that the
same people hit first and worst by pollution and climate change do not
benefit last and least from green economy solutions. Make sure you tune in
live to this can’t-miss event.
