John,
Day 2 was packed with so much inspiring content, from a panel on how to defeat the right’s fear agenda to a conversation about the importance of state legislatures to a session on engaging younger voters on climate.
At noon, scholar-activists Kimberlé Crenshaw and Tim Wise, AG Keith Ellison and TN Rep. Justin Jones analyzed how we wage a robust fight for racial justice—and why we must in order to save our democracy. We ended the day with a powerful keynote talking about what's at stake this November that included Rep. Pramila Jayapal and UAW President Shawn Fain, among others.
Here's a few quotes from the day:
"If you want to know what's coming with Project 2025, just look at Tennessee in 2024 ... the South is worth fighting for." –Rep. Justin Jones
"The right sees this moment as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to eliminate things they have been targeting for so long." –Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw
"In all these fights against authoritarian forces,
we have to shift the conversation away from the election being about which candidate you want
to being about what country you want." –Anat Shenker-Osorio
"Democracy isn't a value, it's a practice." –Ash-Lee Woodard Henderson
"For us in the labor movement, what's at stake in November is not just November … it will determine whether we move forward or backward for a generation to come. –UAW President Shawn Fain
"Our country has never suffered from scarcity. We have always suffered from greed. And we can change that." –Rep. Pramila Jayapal
