This week, the House of Representatives passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. I was proud to vote for this legislation, as it upholds and strengthens current law by requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. It additionally requires states to remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters and creates a criminal penalty for registering illegal aliens to vote in federal elections. The Senate must pass this legislation expeditiously, as it is vitally important to ensuring that the November 5th election is secure.
In addition to the SAVE Act, the House considered the fiscal year 2025 appropriations bill to fund the legislative branch. I was one of 10 Republicans who voted against the bill, preventing it from passing. The bill increased funding by more than five percent above the current level. We should not increase spending within our own house when the country is approaching $35 trillion in debt. If we are going to claim to be fiscal conservatives, we should be leading by example by cutting spending for every entity in government.

On Monday, I proudly announced the creation of the bipartisan Congressional El Salvador Caucus on the floor of the House of Representatives. Last month, I had the honor of attending the second inauguration of El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, along with Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) and other members of Congress. Rep. Gonzalez will be the inaugural co-chair of this newly formed caucus.
The Congressional El Salvador Caucus’ mission will aim to promote a better understanding of issues related to the United States’ relationship with El Salvador, our mutual interests, and the interests of the United States. It will also work to advance the education of other members of Congress and their constituents on these subjects and to strengthen bilateral relations between the United States and our Central American neighbor.
President Bukele has converted El Salvador from the murder capital of the world into a reliable and stable partner for peace and security for the United States. I look forward to leading the Congressional El Salvador Caucus in our efforts to nurture and advance the U.S.-El Salvador relationship to encourage strong borders, strong culture, and the strong reforms that President Bukele has put into effect. Through the inspiration from El Salvador’s astonishing transformation, the great American rejuvenation can become a reality as well, giving us the opportunity to usher in a triumphant return of safety and prosperity that we once inspired in others.

During a Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing on Tuesday, I questioned Former New York Judge John H. Wilson about hypothetical instances of judicial misconduct. Judge Wilson testified that he would recuse himself from a case if his family was benefiting off the notoriety because it would seem improper! So why did Attorney General Garland refuse to answer questions about impropriety? It’s simple: President Trump’s trial was politically motivated.

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Ben Shapiro, the co-founder of the Daily Wire, joined me in slamming companies that have colluded with social-media platforms to censor conservative speech. Big advertising platforms have been destroying the marketplace of ideas by hammering the American people with their own ideological tilts. I refuse to let these companies hide behind their fake standards in order to project a false sense of objectivity.

On Wednesday’s episode of Firebrand, I was joined by Jeremy Carl, Senior Fellow at the Claremont Institute, to discuss his book, “The Unprotected Class: How Anti-White Racism Is Tearing America Apart.” Carl’s book takes a deep dive into the consequences of the Left’s anti-white racism, particularly on military readiness.
Our military communities are some of the most integrated communities in America, but Democrats seem completely intent on undoing that. In the past five years alone, we have seen a 40 percent drop in white recruits to the military—with no drops in any other racial demographic. This is a problem that must be acknowledged!

REP. GAETZ ATTENDS BRIEFING AT ANDREWS INSTITUTE
Last Wednesday, I received a detailed briefing from Ashton Hayward and his amazing team at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze. While the Andrews Institute is world-renowned in the areas of orthopedic and rehabilitation care, we were there to learn more about their EXOS facility that focuses on world-class athletes and, crucially, our special-operations soldiers. As a state legislator, I helped secure the initial funding for this important facility in 2014, which has been instrumental in helping our special-operations warriors get back into the fight and continue doing what they love the most.
We will do anything to help get the needed care to those who have carried the heaviest burdens with multiple deployments and injuries. EXOS is not the only solution, but it is certainly making a significant difference. We are looking forward to expanding its availability and access to all of our American warriors.

NAVAL AIR STATION WHITING FIELD RECIEVES THE 2024 COMMANDER IN CHIEF’S AWARD FOR INSTALLATION EXCELLENCE
I am honored to recognize Naval Air Station Whiting Field as the 2024 recipient of the Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence for the Navy! This award recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of those who operate and maintain U.S. military installations.
Congratulations to Captain Flores and the entire Whiting team. We’re all very proud!
TEAM GAETZ ATTENDS 350th SPECTRUM WARFARE WING CHANGE-OF-COMMAND
My team was honored to be in attendance at the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing change-of-command between outgoing commander, Colonel Joshua Koslov, and incoming commander, Colonel Larry Fenner Jr., this past Tuesday.
Although this mission unit is relatively new to our area, it is vitally important to the security of our nation. In a mere three years since its establishment, the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing has become one of the most important wings in the entirety of the Air Force. I welcome Colonel Fenner and his family to Northwest Florida, and I look forward to his unit’s continued growth.

Matt Gaetz to announce creation of Congressional El Salvador Caucus
“Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is set to announce the creation of a bipartisan Congressional El Salvador Caucus. Gaetz traveled to El Salvador last month to attend the second inauguration of President Nayib Bukele, alongside Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) and other members of Congress. Gonzalez will be the inaugural co-chairman of the caucus. In a press release from Gaetz’s office, the new caucus was described as aiming to better promote understanding of the relationship between El Salvador and the United States, strengthen bilateral relations, and promote understanding of the country among members of Congress and their constituents. Gaetz has given high praise to Bukele both before and after his trip, holding him up as a model for American conservatives to follow.”

“Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) recently launched the Congressional El Salvador Caucus alongside Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX). The Texas congressman will serve as the inaugural co-chair. The caucus aims to “promote a better understanding of issues related to the United States’ relationship with El Salvador, [American] interests, and the interests of the United States.” Rep. Gaetz spoke fondly of El Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele, who has ushered in a newfound period of safety with a 92% decrease in homicides since 2015 (per the Wall Street Journal) but has remained in a state of emergency since March of 2022.”
