Dear Free Software Supporter,

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) will have a booth at FOSSY (August 1–4, 2024) in Portland, OR, this year.

Would you or someone you know be interested in helping us run the FSF booth at Portland State University? Doing so would involve face-to-face advocacy on behalf of free software, soliciting and accepting donations for the FSF, and selling FSF merchandise -- all to raise awareness and funds that power our campaigns.

If you or a friend could help us, please let us know by replying to this email by Thursday, July 18.

The shifts we need covered are:

  • Day 1: August 1, Thursday

    • 09:00 - 10:00 -- Setup
    • 10:00 - 15:00 -- Exhibit
    • 15:00 - 19:00 -- Exhibit
  • Day 2: August 2, Friday

    • 09:00 - 14:30 -- Exhibit
    • 14:30 - 18:15 -- Exhibit
  • Day 3: August 3, Saturday

    • 09:00 - 14:30 -- Exhibit
    • 14:30 - 18:15 -- Exhibit
  • Day 4: August 4, Sunday

    • 09:00 - 14:30 -- Exhibit
    • 14:30 - 18:15 -- Exhibit
    • 18:15 - 19:00 -- Pack up

If you can help, please reply with answers to the following questions:

  • What is the best phone number to reach you?

  • Is it OK to share your contact information with the other volunteers or, possibly, the organizers?

  • Do you have access to a vehicle, and, if so, would you be willing to either bring merchandise to the venue and/or ship it back after the event?

  • Which of the shifts above would you be willing and able to take?

  • Will you need the FSF to get you an exhibit-hall pass, or will you already have a conference pass from some other source?

Please let us know if you would be able and willing to volunteer your time. Conference booths are one of the most important ways we introduce new people to free software, GNU, and the FSF! They also raise funds that help fuel our work for the rest of the year and beyond.

Thank you for supporting the FSF!

Sincerely,

Jeanne Rasata
