Dear Friends,
This week, my heart remains with the families who lost their loved ones and those who were injured in shootings during the holiday last weekend. In Chicago, 109 people were shot, 19 fatally. July 4th should be celebratory — instead, it’s historically one of the deadliest days of the year. I promise to honor all those impacted with action against gun violence.
Supporting Gun Violence Survivors
The Community Justice Action Fund was founded eight years ago to amplify the voices of gun violence survivors and center survivors in solutions to end gun violence. I joined them this week to celebrate their achievements and recommit to advancing policies that provide our communities with the resources they need to end gun violence.
IL-02 Privacy Fair
Identity theft is a growing threat in our country that jeopardizes the well-being and financial security of its victims. I'm pleased that my Privacy Fair in Matteson was able to help shred sensitive documents and connect our residents with the resources they need to protect their information. Simple tasks like diversifying your online passwords or shredding sensitive documents can be the key to keeping your financial information safe.
