People are
worried.
Recent rulings from the far-right Supreme Court have shaken us. Giving
presidents, including the former occupant of the White House, absolute
immunity is a massive blow to our democracy.
And the court ruled that cities across the country can ban people from
sleeping and camping in public places — meaning unhoused folks can be
jailed simply for trying to survive.
Where do we go from here, when the very system created to uphold our
rights is instead attacking citizens and our democracy, and putting power
into the hands of corporations and mega-donors?
I know people are worried about these rulings. About the outcome of the
upcoming Presidential election. About SCOTUS reform. About affordable
housing. About so many things that it feels overwhelming.
[ [link removed] ]That’s exactly why I do this work, and this is why our movement and
community matter. We can’t just sit by and let the Court undermine our
democracy. Let’s show them that we’re paying attention — and we’re
demanding action. Add your name to support SCOTUS reform now.
The Supreme Court is facing a crisis of legitimacy. It has been stacked
with partisan, far-right justices hand-selected by conservative
mega-donors, enabled by a man who was just found guilty on 34 counts of
lies, cover ups, and withholding the truth.
The Justices have released partisan decisions and substituted extremist,
minority opinions for settled law. And they’ve repeated ethics violation
after ethics violation by accepting lavish, secret gifts from right-wing
mega-donors. For context, an entry-level staffer in the White House can't
accept as much as a coffee as a gift, while Justices of the highest Court
are getting showered with private school tuitions and luxury vacations
I’m fighting for:
* Supreme Court expansion to restore balance and fairness.
* A binding code of ethics for justices to ensure accountability and
restore integrity.
* Formal investigations into Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and
Brett Kavanaugh to shed light on their records of impropriety.
* Imposing term limits on Supreme Court justices
We can turn our pain into power. If they can legislate hardship, hurt, and
harm, we can and we must legislate equity, healing, and justice.
