From the filibuster to the Electoral College, the Republican party uses every tool they can to defy the will of the people — to make sure they can control Congress and the White House even when they get fewer votes.

And they’ve hijacked the Supreme Court, too.

Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell stole two seats on the Supreme Court so they can ram through an unpopular, extreme agenda: From overturning Roe v. Wade, to giving the President free rein to abuse the power of the presidency without constraint, just to name a couple of their recent egregious decisions.

When the Supreme Court has gotten this far out of sync with American values, then it’s time to expand the Supreme Court and pull it back toward the mainstream.

Congress has already used its constitutional authority to change the size of the Supreme Court seven times. Court expansion isn’t new. It isn’t radical. It’s what we must do to rein in a Court that Republicans packed and that clearly doesn’t feel limited by the rule of law.

For the sake of our democracy, we must act now. Add your name if you agree: It’s time to expand and rebalance the Supreme Court.

The American people have lost confidence in the Court. And for good reason, with the Court’s dangerous decisions on abortion rights, climate action, gun safety, and more. They’re anti-union, they’re anti-consumer, and they've empowered corporations more than ever before — giving them religious liberty rights and letting them spend gobs of money to influence the political process.

Not to mention, Justices on the Court have been accused of ethical violation after ethical violation — accepting lavish travel opportunities on private jets, superyachts, and at exclusive resorts from GOP megadonors.

Rebalancing the Court is a necessary step to restore its credibility as an independent institution, one that works for the American people and not just for the wealthy and the powerful.

Engraved on the entrance of the Supreme Court is a simple phrase: “equal justice under law.” Americans deserve a Court committed to that fundamental idea. One that values the settled constitutional rights of every American. One that protects democracy, instead of undermining it. One that gives working parents and millionaire executives the same fair shake. This extremist Court has shown that it is not interested in advancing the equal administration of justice. It’s time to rebalance the Supreme Court to create one that is.

Expansion is the only way to rebalance the Court after Republicans stole two seats and undermined its legitimacy.
