------------------------------------------------------------
It’s time to hold our elected officials accountable for their failure to pass vital climate justice legislation! Join us for a town hall style forum to question Governor Hochul, Attorney General James, and Comptroller Lander, and several City Council Members in-person about the accelerating climate crisis and their lack of action. This will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, located at 2 West 64th Street (at the corner of Central Park West). RSVP to join us! ** Take Action: Don't Let Them Water Down One of NYC's Most Important Climate Laws!
------------------------------------------------------------
Local Law 97 ([link removed]) is the most aggressive and ambitious city climate law in the country that we helped pass in 2019. New York City’s buildings are responsible for 70 percent of climate pollution in the city, and this law is set to begin slashing building emissions drastically starting this year. However, a new bill, Intro 772, which could severely weaken Local Law 97, has been introduced in City Council and is gaining traction. We cannot let this bill pass and weaken our efforts for cleaner and healthier buildings throughout the city. Send an email ([link removed]) to New York City Council members and make a phone ([link removed]) call to your Council member telling them to defend Local Law 97!

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle ([link removed]) also wrote a story based on yesterday's press conference.
* Beauty Justice: Liz Reyes’ Op-Ed calling for beauty justice appeared in the New York Amsterdam News. ([link removed])
* Extreme Heat: Annie Carforo was featured in a CNN article ([link removed]) on the costly challenge of keeping your home cool in these heat waves. The story has been picked up by multiple media outlets.
* Supreme Court Rulings: Harlem World ([link removed]) shared our statement on the recent Supreme Court of the United States rulings, and their implications for environmental justice.
Peggy Shepard joined a panel hosted by Domini Impact investments (pictured left to right: Domini’s Mary Beth Gallagher, Peggy, and Solar One's Sara Radelet and Michaela Ritz) to discuss climate justice, the importance of a just transition to solar and other renewable energy sources, and how investors can help advance this.
We hosted a rally during this month's record heat calling for passage of the NY HEAT Act, again. If this is giving you déjà vu, you're not alone. Despite unrelenting pressure to get this bill to fight fossil fuels and lower energy costs passed, our leadership in Albany continues to fail us. However, this bill is so critical that we're not giving up, and we're eager to ask Albany leadership directly why this and other bills are stalled at our Climate Justice Townhall. ([link removed])
