I found an old picture recently that brought back memories. It shows me outside the Arizona House of Representatives on swearing-in day — the first office I ever held.

Before I ran for office, I was an environmental lawyer. I helped hold big corporations accountable for pollution, oversaw the cleanup of toxic waste sites, and filed an amicus brief in the first Supreme Court case to recognize the effect of greenhouse gasses on climate change.
When I got to the Arizona legislature, I knew I could use my experience to tackle our biggest environmental challenges. And nothing was, or is, more pressing than Arizona’s water security.
I worked with anyone who was willing to come to the table on the Colorado Drought Contingency Plan and fought to ensure all Basin states were doing their fair share.
I spent years in the Arizona legislature working on a solution to protect our water supply, and I'll do the same in Congress.
I’ll hold all Southwest Basin states accountable for conserving water and put an end to Arizona Republicans selling our supply to foreign countries.
