Fox 5 Atlanta: Georgia secretary of state calls for end of general election runoffs [[link removed]]
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has said that he wants the Georgia General Assembly to end the Peach State's use of general election runoffs. In a statement, Raffensperger called on Georgia officials to get rid of the runoff process, which costs taxpayers millions of dollars each time it has to be used.
Historians have found that most general election runoff systems were designed to limit participation, specifically of minority groups.
