Utility companies don't want us to teach people how they operate. So that's exactly what we did.
A few months ago, we kicked off our Utilities Public Education Series, and hundreds of activists like you were trained up to take on utility companies – which continue to keep us reliant on fossil fuels.
That is not all, John.
During the Utilities Public Education Series, we learned about different ways we can take our power back from the fossil fuel industry and the utility companies that enable them.
We’ve heard from organizers who campaigned for Maine to have the first state-wide utility with a climate mandate.
We’ve heard from policy experts on different tactics to hold utilities accountable, from public utility commissions to corporate accountability.
And we’ve heard from campaign workers on ways we can organize, map power structures, and win the next utility fights. You can read more about it here.
Profit-driven utility companies rely on keeping us in the dark. So this knowledge is power and gives us a fighting chance against utility companies and their hidden agenda with the fossil fuel industry. We will win. But we need you, John.
In a couple of weeks, together with local groups and affiliates across the country, we are going on the streets to hold utility companies accountable for their role in the climate crisis.
