Washington, D.C. - On Monday, I met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Furkat Sidikov. As a member of the Ways and Means committee, which has jurisdiction over trade, I appreciated our discussion on opportunities to strengthen relations between our countries.

Tuesday I joined my Ways and Means colleagues to advance bills that protects Jewish students, helps parents save for their child’s education, and counters China, while strengthening America's standing.

We passed the University Accountability Act and the Protecting American Students Act, which penalizes universities who fail to protect their students and incentivizes them to admit more American students. Additionally, we passed the Education and Workforce Freedom Act which helps parents save for their child’s education.

I’m particularly pleased to share that we advanced a resolution I cosponsored to formally disapprove of a Biden Treasury Department regulation that allows American taxpayer dollars to go to Chinese companies manufacturing electric vehicles. You can read more about that resolution in my Work of the Week section and you can click here to watch my remarks from the markup.

This week, I voted to prevent unnecessary bans and regulations on home appliances that would do nothing for the environment while driving up costs and restricting consumer choice.

After, I met with members of the Club for Growth where I was honored to receive their Defender of Economic Freedom Award for my work to rein in government spending and bring back financial stability for hard working American families.

Wednesday began with a great conversation with Maureen McBride, CEO of the United Network for Organ Sharing, where we discussed my work to ensure safe and efficient donor organ transportation, such as my 'Saving Organs One Flight at a Time Act,' and how we can continue to strengthen our nation’s organ transplantation system to save more lives.

Later that day, I voted for the SAVE act to prevent non-citizens from voting in U.S. elections. This bill will ensure only American citizens are casting ballots by requiring states to remove non-citizens from their voter rolls and amending the National Voter Registration Act to require proof of U.S. citizenship and identity.

Thursday, I supported holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt for refusing to turn over the Hur tapes for the American people to see.

After, I voted to block President Biden's dismantling of Title IX that would erode the rights of women and girls to privacy and opportunity by changing the civil rights law.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

I'm working to secure our economy and national security by preventing the CCP from further taking advantage of American taxpayers. This week, I cosponsored a resolution to close loopholes that allow Chinese companies to benefit from the so-called Inflation Reduction Act. I’m pleased to share this was passed out of the Ways and Means Committee.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

This week's Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Doug Barnes, Heritage Elementary School’s beloved custodian. ‘Mr. Doug’ has gone above and beyond to show the value of kindness and the impacts that even the smallest gestures can have. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!
