Thank you to Josh Lee, Mayor of Vinita, Allen Goforth, City Manger, Brian Prince, City Clerk, and Misty Deffinbaugh, Economic and Community Development Coordinator for taking the time to sit down with me. We discussed accommodations for the American Heartland Theme Park, as well as economic development and support for infrastructure, roads, and water. The city of Vinita is in great hands with these leaders.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Muskogee Gospel Rescue Mission (GRM) and hear about the incredible work they are doing for the community. GRM provides Oklahomans suffering with addiction and poverty the opportunity to seek reliable shelter, receive quality food, and restore their lives through community programs and the power of the gospel. GRM provides more than just immediate assistance. GRM strives to make long term impacts through faith-based job training and individualized care. Seeing GRM’s inspiring work reminds me of how blessed we are to have passionate community leaders who devote their lives to helping others.
I visited Salina recently to meet with local leadership to discuss tornado recovery efforts. I was humbled to learn that more than 200 volunteers donated their time to assist with clean up, and churches, agencies, and businesses stepped in to assist too. We chatted about the FEMA partnership and how we can maximize local, state, and federal resources. Thank you to Randall Plumlee, Mayor of Salina, Katy Hannah, City Clerk, Johnny Janzen, Mayes Co. Emergency Management, and members of the Fire Department for your time and leadership. Mayes County was hit hard, but I know they'll come out stronger.
