I came to Congress to deliver common-sense solutions for the American people. By bringing Republicans and Democrats together, this legislative achievement marks a new step forward in ensuring accountability to protect staff and incarcerated individuals in our federal prisons.
This bipartisan bill will require the Department of Justice's Inspector General to conduct comprehensive, risk-based inspections of the 122 correction facilities within the Federal Bureau of Prisons, provide recommendations to fix problems, and assign each facility a risk score. These findings will be made public and all inspection reports must be responded to within 60 days. To learn more about my legislation, click here.
