Dear Friend,

I wanted to pass along the latest update on the important work I am doing in Washington DC to stand up for commonsense, conservative principles across the Country and to serve my constituents in Maryland's First Congressional District.

To date, the House Appropriations Committee has advanced all twelve of our must pass appropriations bills out of full committee.

In addition to marking up fiscally conservative appropriation bills, the House also passed several important pieces of legislation that will benefit, protect, and better serve the American people.

A brief summary of our key legislation is below.

Advancing The Agriculture Appropriations Bill:

This week, the House Appropriations Committee advanced the Fiscal Year 2025 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act out of full committee.

Key Aspects of This Legislation:

  • Supports our rural communities and strengthens our national security and food supply.
  • Continues critical investments in agriculture research, rural broadband, and animal and plant health programs.
  • Provides sufficient funds to ensure the safety of food, drugs, and medical devices.
  • Addresses foreign ownership of U.S. agricultural land by improving the tracking system of foreign-owned land.
  • Reins in harmful regulations that dictate how poultry and livestock producers raise and market their animals.
  • Prohibits funds for the USDA’s new DEI Office.

This legislation also recognizes that Americans are struggling with inflation, and we must rein in the reckless spending of the Biden Administration by targeting funding towards core programs that help America’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.

I look forward to this bill’s final passage on the House Floor.

H.R. 8281: Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act

It is simple; only Americans should be allowed to vote in American elections. Period.

This week, House Republicans passed the SAVE Act which preserves the right of American citizens to vote by requiring States to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote in a federal election. I am proud to be a cosponsor for this vital piece of legislation and pleased to see my fellow House Republicans stood together in passing this bill. I urge the Senate and President to do their part in making this legislation the law of the land.

H.J. Res. 165: Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to "Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance

Title IX was designed to protect women from sex-based discrimination. Unsurprisingly, instead of protecting women and girls, the Biden Administration is using woke ideology to redefine womanhood and are even allowing biological men to play in women's sports.

Allowing biological men to both compete in women's sports and to use the same lockers rooms as women, is sex-based discrimination and completely unacceptable.

I was proud to support a resolution disapproving of the administration’s attempt to allow discrimination in women's sports.

In The News

Biden's Health Is Declining: As a Physican, I am Speaking out:

Image

This week, I was interviewed by several news programs about the obvious cognitive decline of President Joe Biden. The American people see clearly that Joe Biden’s health is rapidly declining, and his performance does not meet the demands the office of the President requires.

As I also made clear, the entire Democrat Party is complicit in the cover-up of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and the failures of his administration. The American people have a right to know if their Commander in Chief can direct the movements of the naval and military forces—let alone lead the country forward.

The President Should Take a Cognitive Test:

I am also calling for transparency to determine if President Biden is mentally fit to continue serving.

The White House tried to fool the American people; they kept their fingers crossed that this president could maintain that public appearance of neurologic normalcy, but their efforts have been exposed. Joe Biden is unfit for office, and no matter who the Democrats try to put in his place, their policies are unpopular, their records are a disaster, and they have disqualified themselves by going along with Team Biden’s effort to perpetrate a fraud on the American people.

President Biden should take a cognitive test and I called for that in my public interviews.

House Appropriations Committee Press Conference

After many months of holding hearings, markups, and late-night committee votes, the House Appropriations Committee reached a milestone this week by passing all twelve appropriations bills out of full committee. I joined Chairman Cole and several other of my Appropriations Subcommittee Chairmen in a press conference to celebrate this achievement and highlight the conservative policies included in these bills.

The role of the Appropriations Committee is an important one because Article I, Section 9, of the Constitution says: “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.” This year, as Americans struggled with inflation driven by the increased spending of the Biden Administration, the Appropriations Committee used our constitutional responsibility wisely by rejecting the laundry list of woke spending requests in the president’s unrealistic budget and instead, funded key programs in agencies that improve the quality of life for Americans.

As we all know, America depends on our farms for food, clothing, and thousands of jobs and as Chairman of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, I am proud this bill protects farmers from unnecessary and harmful federal regulations that hurt their ability to grow and create jobs.

I hope this update has been helpful for you and encourage you to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you may have.
