The Governor’s Early Literacy Educator Preparation Council just released their final recommendations, John!
A group of university and K-12 educators and literacy experts, as well as bipartisan representatives from the Legislature, came together to create a list of recommendations for overhauling literacy training in the state.
They recommend much more comprehensive literacy standards for our teachers and curriculum at Oregon’s 15 teacher colleges. These new standards and curriculum would be based on the “science of reading” — the large body of research that lays out exactly how the brain best learns to read.
In order to put the recommendations into effect, they will first need to be approved by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission — will you add your name now to stand by these recommendations for the improvement of teaching literacy across Oregon? >>
Thanks for standing up for our children. There is nothing more important than investing in their futures.
