SPREAD THE WORD! Immigrants are giving their all to build and contribute to this
country!

Baseless attacks against immigrants are ramping up and it’s up to us to
push back! Certain politicians and their greedy lobbyists hurt everyone by
handing kickbacks to the rich, defunding our schools, and threatening
families with cuts to healthcare and other programs that give us the tools
to thrive. Then they turn around and point the finger for our hard times
at new immigrants. It’s up to us to correct the record! We need to uplift
this great report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO)
to counter disinformation about immigrants and show all the readers how
critical immigration really is for the economy, our families, and our
communities!

Sign to Tell Congress Playing Child Care Bingo is No Fun

Your Action Status: NOT YET SIGNED -> [ [link removed] ]Sign Now

Many parents spend the summer essentially playing the most-not-fun version
of bingo ever, trying to get the winning card of child care coverage that
never comes. Some utilize a patchwork of friends and family chipping in to
lessen the child care load. Signing up for camps which are often
unaffordable (sometimes maxing out credit cards!) – and having to take
time off or leave the workforce in the summer due to child care. When
schools are out, parents still need to work! That’s why we need affordable
child care (including summer care, and non traditional hours care!) in our
communities, so that parents can go to work knowing that their kids are
taken care of and that summer fun keeps them learning and engaged in a
safe and loving environment.

MomsRising has been working at the local, state, and federal levels to
advocate for meaningful community safety efforts. We know it is time to
reimagine public safety and create crisis responses that are appropriate
and equipped to meet the needs of communities. The reality is that our
current approach to public safety is not working for children or families.
What we are clear on is that this is an emergency, and far too often, the
current excessive policing approaches have had devastating and deadly
effects, particularly for youth, people living with disabilities, and
communities of color. Communities across the country are already
advocating for and implementing innovative strategies to prevent violence,
reduce harm, and improve the well-being of every community. Creative ideas
from community members are a big part of those efforts.

Are you an artist or creative? Do you have ideas on what our communities
need to thrive and build a sense of safety and belonging? If so, we invite
you to join the MomsRising community safety coloring challenge

Take Action for Black Women’s Equal Pay!

Tuesday was Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, the day we use to highlight the
outrageous fact that Black women in the United States earn only 69 cents
on the dollar compared to white men, working full-time year round.
Unfortunately, that gap widens to 66 cents when we take into account all
Black women earners, including part-time and part-year workers. Black
women and mothers are facing direct discrimination on a number of levels
—and this is not okay. Let’s stand together, advocate for change, and
create a future where our families can thrive.

[ [link removed] ]Call on members of Congress to champion policies that we know help
close the wage gap for Black women and for families!
