John,
What an electrifying start to #NN24! The day was full of conversations addressing what's at stake in November, from abortion access to immigration reform to addressing climate change.
And our opening keynote reminded us of the power of community, action and hope. Our speakers encouraged us to continue the fight, even when the road ahead is difficult. Here's a few quotes from the evening:
"We must go through the fight ahead to get to the future that we hope for." –Rep. Delia Ramirez
"We're in a moment of intense struggle. We don't do this work because it's easy. Our communities cannot afford to be defeated, so we cannot afford to be defeatist." –Rep. Greg Casar
"We must do everything in our power to defeat Trump, but this battle isn't about one man. It's about systemic and pervasive threats. The world we are fighting for is so much larger than Trump." –Rep. Cori Bush
"Netroots, we must win because we cannot afford to lose. You are the fuse to illuminate our democracy against a looming threat. I come before you to fight the rule of law being replaced by rule of one man." –AG Letitia James
"We are a movement of love that fights for the abandoned, from Detroit to Gaza—and we will never back down." –Rep. Rashida Tlaib
You can watch the full keynote, plus see photos from Day 1 of Netroots Nation here.
