What's the State of YOUR Air?
[link removed]

2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the Clean Air Act, which has driven dramatic improvements in air quality over its history. However, the American Lung Association’s “State of the Air” 2020 report shows that air pollution still threatens health in too many communities, and climate change is making air quality worse in large parts of the country.

Nearly half of Americans lived in counties that had unhealthy ozone or particle pollution in 2016-2018.

Climate change is degrading air quality in the United States and increasing the risk of air pollution harming health.

In 2016-2018, more cities had unhealthy levels of ozone and year-round particle pollution compared to 2015-2017 and many cities measured increased levels of short-term particle pollution.

Ozone pollution and particle pollution are two of the most widespread and dangerous air pollutants. Breathing these pollutants can cause asthma attacks, respiratory and cardiovascular harm, and even early death. Breathing particle pollution can also cause lung cancer.

The Science is Clear:
The nation needs stronger limits on ozone and particle pollution to safeguard health, especially for children and people with lung disease. Every family has the right to breathe healthy air – and the right to know when air pollution levels are unhealthy. Tell the Trump Administration to follow the science and set stronger limits on dangerous air pollution.
