** Mattie McGrath TD confronts Tánaiste on massive increase in Irish abortions
------------------------------------------------------------
Well done to Mattie McGrath TD for raising Ireland’s soaring abortion numbers in the Dáil this week. In reply to Deputy McGrath's remarks about the 10,033 abortions that happened in 2023 alone, Tánaiste Micheál Martin completely sidestepped the huge increase in abortions and instead used his time to recite speaking points used by the pro-abortion movement that have nothing whatsoever to do with reducing the number of abortions taking place.
The Dáil goes into recess from today for the summer break and is not scheduled to reconvene until mid September

** Radical pro-abortion advocate appointed Home Office Minister in UK
------------------------------------------------------------
Labour MP Diana Johnson, the extreme pro-abortion campaigner who among other things tried to have abortion on request up-to-birth legalised in Britain has just been appointed a Minister of State in the Home Office by newly elected Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Johnson’s appointment will cause alarm to many given her radical stance. She is now in a very powerful position to push for the changes to the abortion law that she wants to see happen.
Right to Life UK has drawn attention to opinion polls showing that only 1% of Labour voters in Britain support increasing the abortion time limit to above the current 24-week limit.
While several newly elected MPs in the UK signed a pro-life pledge before the General Election to defend the right to life in parliament, it was very disappointing to see pro-life stalwarts like Fiona Bruce, Caroline Ansell, Miriam Cates and Sir Liam Fox losing their seats.
** Paris Olympics the ‘friendliest yet for competing moms’
------------------------------------------------------------
The Summer Olympic Games begin in Paris at the end of this month. One welcome development has been a slew of positive stories about athletes who have celebrated their motherhood as part of their journey and also of the recognition that they are receiving in return. This has led to the Washington Post this week calling it the 'friendliest yet for competing moms'.
It might seem hard to believe, but this will be the first time ever that mothers who are athletes will have nurseries available to them to help them. It will also be the first time that rooms will be set aside during the games for mothers who are breastfeeding, with nappies and wipes provided to mothers also. The French organisers have also loosened rules on babies being with their mothers in the normally tightly controlled Olympic Village.
Much of this is the initiative of Allyson Felix, an 11 time medal winner who has spent the past few years spearheading a drive for mothers to be celebrated at the Olympics.
A number of athletes have been vocal in the lead up to these games about how positive motherhood has been on their athletic journey. Helen Glover of the Great Britain rowing team has said that it has given her an extra sense of perspective, saying 'I’ve got something much bigger and more important that I’m going home to'.
Barbari Zharfi, who is competing for the Olympic Refugee Team after leaving Iran, spoke similarly, “I want to prove one thing: even if you are a single mother and a refugee, you can achieve your goal and your biggest dream. For my daughter, I want to be a person to look up to.”

** There’s a reason why abortion supporters don’t want to debate the issue!
------------------------------------------------------------
Abortion defenders only succeed in pushing their agenda by avoiding debate and hiding behind the protective cover the media willingly give to them.
On the rare occasions they’re challenged to defend their position, the inconsistencies become all too apparent and their arguments fall apart, as the Students for Life of America reel above demonstrates.
Pro-abortion advocates who engage in debate at least deserve some credit for doing so, as most of their colleagues run a mile from defending their position. Shame on the mainstream media though for not doing their job in pressing abortion supporters for answers and for being complicit in withholding the truth about legalised abortion from the public.

Tickets now available for the eighth annual Ceiliúradh Cois Life Dinner for Pro-Life Education which will take place on Friday, 20th September 2024 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
We are very pleased to announce that the guest speaker at this year's dinner will be former minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton. CEO of Vulcan Consulting, Lucinda Creighton is hugely admired and respected, across the political spectrum, for the courageous and principled way she opposed abortion legislation in the Dáil, sacrificing her position as a minister in the process.
It promises to be an unforgettable evening with excellent food, live music, and an opportunity for attendees to connect with friends and fellow supporters of the pro-life movement.
