How 10/7 Victims Are Taking Iran, Syria and N. Korea to Court
I called my mom at the kibbutz as I usually do when there’s a missile attack from Gaza. “But quite early on, we understood that this wasn’t like your normal missile attack. That something different was going on.” His mom heard gunshots, shouting in Arabic. When the terrorists barged into the house, “that was the last we heard from her.”
In this week’s Fighting Hate from Home webinar,
we heard from Nahar Neta about his mother Adrienne Neta, killed by Hamas terrorists on 10/7. She and scores of others like her are the reason why ADL and Crowell & Moring filed suit in U.S. Federal Court last week, representing over 125 plaintiffs, including U.S. citizens who were injured or killed as a result of the October 7 attack, and immediate family members of those injured or killed.
On a just released episode of the podcast ‘Call Me Back with Dan Senor’, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt shares stories of the American victims, why ADL filed the lawsuit and how ADL responded in the aftermath of the 10/7 attack. Hear the fascinating conversation about where this lawsuit can actually go and what it could achieve on behalf of American victims and their families.

2024 Supreme Court Review:
Earlier this week, thousands of attendees, both in person and online, joined ADL and the National Constitution Center’s panel of renowned SCOTUS experts in discussing the court’s most recent term. Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean of Berkeley Law, noted in kicking off the discussion that “if I had a theme for this term, it’s a very divided Supreme Court.” Watch the recording for the panel’s insights into Court decisions on content moderation, reproductive rights, presidential immunity and more. Additionally, hear from journalist Dahlia Lithwick about conflict-related sexual violence on 10/7 and the law.

New Info About Extremist Groups: Read new updates about antisemitic extremist groups Patriot Front (which
marched through Nashville just days ago, masked and carrying Confederate flags up the steps of the state capitol) and the National Socialist Front in backgrounders from the ADL Center on Extremism.

Links Between Anti-Israel and Antisemitism:
Among students on four University of California campuses, a new survey revealed that anti-Israel attitudes are much stronger than in the general public, and that both belief in classic antisemitic tropes and negative sentiments towards Israel increased after 10/7. Read more insights from this study of the relationship between hatred of the Jewish people and hatred of the Jewish state.
Stanford: As we look to the new school year, universities must have plans to confront antisemitism. Professors Larry Diamond and Jeffrey Koseff detail the antisemitism at Stanford and make
specific recommendations about what must come first in action by universities to combat it so that Jewish students no longer have to hide their Jewish identity or change their behavior to feel safe on campus.
