Dear Colleague,
The U.S. State Department will “update” its interpretation of a binding international treaty on civil rights to include homosexual/transgender issues despite the treaty text not having a single LGBT reference and ignoring that such issues were never understood to be part of the treaty. C-Fam’s international law expert Stefano Gennarini, J.D. has the story [[link removed]].
At a recent discussion in the Human Rights Council, a UN expert expressed support for the rights of transgenders to participate in sports and labeled comments of concern over biological men competing with women, as hate speech. Iulia-Elena Cazan has the story [[link removed]].
Throughout 2024, C-Fam's Human Rights Database [[link removed]] has been regularly updated to show how countries have been pressured on life and family issues by human rights treaty body experts, as well as by fellow UN member nations in the Universal Periodic Review. This summary [[link removed]] shows our most recent updates.
Your sincerely,
Lisa Correnti
Executive Vice President
